3. How to enjoy the manuals The initial small manuals are very fun to read and I recommend them. Open ideas about Apple's design and know-how at that time are also reflected in the manual, and the internal design drawings and the source list of the firmware are also attached in their original condition. It is thought that this was because not so many people were involved in the manual editing process. Although many of the early card designs were handled by Woz, it is said that Rod Holt and Wendell Thunder greatly contributed to them, and these manuals are a big clue in helping us to understand how the Apple II card design evolved over the years.. Most of the manuals have been numbered with a product number 030 - xxx - xxxx and a manual number # A2LXXXX. This numbering system seems to be strict at first sight, but in fact it is quite ambiguous, so it is fun trying to figure out the logic behind this numbering system, and making a database with them is also fun. Regarding the field of Compact Macintosh, we can find an abundance of information on Mr. Shin's website, and there is also a flavor of collaborative research to be found.

4. How to enjoy books, magazines and catalogs I am attracted to the following books and magazines because there is either a picture of an Apple II or an apple on the front cover. A representative example of a cover on which an Apple has been drawn is a series of technical books by Howard W Sams. The book named “p-source” is a handbook for Pascal Operating System programmers, but the illustration of a middle-aged man holding an Apple II is excellent. These secondhand books except for special books such as "So Farr", can be relatively inexpensive and readily available aside from the postage. In Japan, there is relatively little information on Apple II, so I'd like to enrich the database by categorizing books and magazines for those who are going to use Apple II in the future. ( refer to Bools, Magazines ) In 1984, following the previous year 's Lisa, the Macintosh was announced in January, and the Apple IIc was announced in April. This was the golden age when printed materials such as Apple's advertisements, publicity, and catalogs etc. were at their best. It is fun to gather magazines and analyze the trends of advertisements and printed materials of around 1984 when they were at their peak. ( Apple Printed Materials / Brochure-3 ) By chance, I got two catalogs featuring the Apple IIc, one from the United States and one from Japan, then compared them; I noticed that even though the composition was similar the female model appeared to be a different person. I guess that the person in charge of Canon sales Japan at that time may have looked unfavorably on the quality of the photograph in the US catalog, and took the picture again in Japan using the same composition. When I start thinking about such things, the pleasure of collecting catalogs becomes all the more appealing. ( refer to Apple IIc catalog,  Apple IIc-6 )
